When I was younger, so much younger than today, I had three interests: computers, people and God (in that order). Now I find, I've changed my mind, I've opened up the doors: it is God, people and computers
When I was younger, so much younger than today
I never needed anybody's help in any way
But now these days are gone, I'm not so self assured
Now I find, I've changed my mind, I've opened up the doors
(The Beatles, Help! )
Programming computers is my hobby and my daytime job (and has been for 25 years now). It is my favorite waste of time
People are more complicated even less predictable than computers. They can be scary at times, and there is no way to reboot them.
When I was younger, so much younger… I thought I didn't really need other people. Now I'm convinced that relating to other people (caring, loving, being loved…) is much more rewarding and relevant that a box full semiconductors and software can ever be. If I ever discover that we (as humans) were designed to love each other, that would not surprise me at all…
I'm a Christian. I' convinced that God is the ultimate and only source of real peace and joy. His presence is the place I belong. And I believe there's no other place to look for answers to 'meaning of life' kind of questions. And besides… He loves me!
