Bootable SDHC 4GB

  • fdisk /dev/sdx # one big partition
  • mkdosfs -F16 /dev/sdb1
  • in cam: load manually (power in view mode, menu, firmware upgrade), and make boot-able

Bootable SDHC 8GB

  • partition 1: primary, small type 4
  • partition 2: primary, big type c
  • mkdosfs -F16 /dev/sdb1
  • mkfs.vfat /dev/sdb2
  • /dev/sdx1 bootable: 'BOOTDISK' at offset 0x40 with hexedit or

echo -n BOOTDISK | dd bs=1 count=8 seek=64 of=/dev/sdb1

  • On small partition: CHDK as usual
  • On big partition: DCIM and copy of CHDK (for scripts, etc)

Extra features

CHDK allows you to select very short exposure times. This picture show drops falling from the tap in my kitchen (macro, flash, exposure 1/100000). (Click for a high resolution image)

Programing

The camera can be programmed in Basic and in Lua.
